Emma Mærsk, Worlds Largest Container Carrier

The deck:

The real thing:

From viewing all of the images, I have learned:
  • That there is a gangway on each side, thus no support for 20' teu right in front of the superstructure. (Supports circled in yellow, gangway circled in red in the second picture counting from the left.)

  •

  • That row one from the bow has two hatches, both five teu's wide.
Storage above deck is 18 teu's wide, below deck 10 teu's wide.
  • That row two from the bow has two hatches five teu's wide, and two hatches two teu's wide.
Storage above deck is 20 teu's wide, below deck 14 teu's wide.
  • That row three from the bow has two hatches five teu's wide, and two hatches four teu's wide.
Storage above deck is 22 teu's wide, below deck 18 teu's wide.
  • That row four through 13 from the bow has four hatches five teu's wide.
Storage above deck is 22 teu's wide, below deck 20 teu's wide.
  • That row 13 from the bow does not offer 20ft teu support.

  • That the superstructure is between row 13 and 14, and offers no teu storage.

  • That row 14 from the bow does not offer 20 teu wide storage below deck.
  • That behind the superstructure, only the first three rows (14-16) offers 20ft teu support.
  • That row 15 through 22 from the bow from the bow has four hatches five teu's wide.
Storage above deck is 22 teu's wide, below deck 20 teu's wide.
  • That row 23 from the bow (Rear most row) has two hatches 4 teu's wide each.
Storage above deck is 22 teu's wide, below deck 8 teu's wide.
The rest of the width is an open-air deck down to minus 1 deck below hull edge.

  • I can make the deck in sections with 3-4 latching bridges on each sheet. I plan to use raw printed circuit board (PCB) from
the electronics world, and photo etch the hatch details. PCB is strong, light, and easy to work.
